Burn Permit Info

As of October 13, 2025 CAL FIRE has lifted the burn ban.

But, we are still in “Fire Season” until the “Winter Burning Season” is declared.

A CAL FIRE burn permit is required for residential outdoor burning (4X4 or smaller). https://burnpermit.fire.ca.gov/

An Air Quality Permit Number is required to obtain a CAL FIRE permit.

Air Quality Burn Permits are available free to AV residents at the CSD office, Monday - Thursday from 10-3 or for $23 at https://www.mendoair.info/forms/burnform.php

“Winter Burning Season” is expected to open after sufficient rainfall and weather change. After that time, until April 30, 2026, only a Mendocino County Air Quality Permit will be required for burning.

Always call 707 463-4391 to see if it is an air quality burn day prior to burning.
